HOW TO CREATE NEW HABITS THAT LAST


 




Habits are one of the most crucial characteristics that define us as human beings. It is the feature people identify us with. It is therefore imperative to ensure we develop it into something mind blowing to attract our desires and make the world a better place.

Experts estimate that it takes around 21 days to create or break a habit pattern with a medium level of complexity. Complex or challenging habits may take longer to integrate into your lifestyle. Although 3 weeks might not seem like a lot of time, but you can establish powerful habits within that period.

By this, we mean simple routines like waking up earlier at a set time, working out every morning before you leave the house, listening t podcasts in the car, going to bed at a set time, showing up on time for appointments, planning each day in advance, beginning each day with the most crucial tasks, or finishing your tasks before beginning anything else.

A straightforward, effective, and time-tested mechanism has been identified for developing new habits. It closely resembles a culinary recipe for making a dish. It can be used to create whatever habits you choose. The successful daily habit you wish to cultivate and incorporate into your personality will get easier as time goes on.

               MAKE A CHOICE.

Make a choice first. Make a firm decision to start performing in a certain manner 100% of the time when such behavior is necessary.

For instance, if you decide to work out in the mornings, set your clock for a specified time, and when the alarm goes off, wake up right away, put on your work gear, and start working out.

 






 NEVER PERMIT AN EXCEPTION TO YOUR NEW HABIT DURING THE EARLY STAGES.

Never permit an exception to your new habit pattern. Make no justifications or apologies. Do not absolve yourself of responsibility.

If you make a commitment to rising at 6:00 AM daily, train yourself to do so until it becomes your second nature.




      TELL PEOPLE YOU ARE ENGAGING IN A NEW BEHAVIOR.

Let others know that you are going to start acting in a certain way. You will be astonished at how much disciplined and focused you will be when you realize that people are watching to see if you have willpower to stick with your resolution.




   


     PICTURE YOUR NEW        BEHAVIOUR.

Picture yourself carrying out or acting in a certain circumstance. Your subconscious mind will accept this new behavior more quickly and make it automatic the more frequently you visualize and pretend that you already exhibit the new behavior.

 








       


    MAKE A POSITIVE STATEMENT.

Create an affirmation that you repeat to yourself repeatedly. The amount of repetition you receive significantly accelerates the process of creating new habit.

For instance, you could remark “I wake up and leave right away at 6:00 AM every morning!” The last thing you say before going to bed, repeat these words.  Most of the time, you will awaken on your own before the alarm goes off, and soon you won’t need an alarm at all.

 







    

      GIVE TO YOURSELF.

This is very crucial. Reward yourself in some way for exercising the new behavior. You encourage and repeat the behavior each time you treat yourself. You quickly start to subconsciously link the behavior and the reward’s pleasure.

By choosing to engage in the action or the habit you have chosen, you create your own force field of advantageous outcomes that you unconsciously anticipate.







            DETERMINATION.

Make a commitment to continue the new habit until it becomes automatic and natural for you that deviating from your plan really makes you feel uncomfortable.  Yes you can stay determined.
