GANDUJE EXPRESSES STRONG EMOTIONS, STATING THAT IF ENCOUNTERED KWANKWANSO IN ASO ROCK, HE WOULD HAVE RESORTED TO PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION.

Expressing deep frustration over the ongoing demolition activities led by Kano State Governor Abba Kabiir Yusuf, former governor Dr Umar Ganduje revealed his strong emotions by stating that if he had encountered his predecessor Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the Presidential Villa, he would have resorted to physical confrontation. The relationship between Ganduje and Kwankwaso has deteriorated significantly in recent years, leading to strained interactions between the two.

After a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu, an incensed Ganduje briefed state house journalists, accusing Kwankwaso of being the mastermind behind the property demolitions in Kano State. His anger was evident as he expressed his desire to slap Kwankwaso had they crossed paths in the Villa.

During his meeting with the President, Ganduje extensively discussed the security situation in Kano State, focusing on the demolition exercise carried out by Governor Yusuf's administration. When asked if he had encountered Kwankwaso in the Villa, Ganduje confirmed Kwankwaso's presence but mentioned that they had not met, implying that a confrontation was avoided.

Ganduje criticized the demolition exercise, highlighting that it was conducted without proper investigation or prior notice in accordance with the provisions of the Land Use Act. He informed the President about the matter and filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, providing video evidence of the looting and vandalism that occurred during the demolitions.

The former governor emphasized that he extensively briefed the President on the demolitions, which affected even supporters of Kwankwaso, whom he accused of ordering the action. Ganduje described the governor as a "stooge" of Kwankwaso, suggesting that he was unhappy due to the public backlash against the demolitions.

When questioned about the extent of the damage and properties lost, Ganduje mentioned that human rights organizations were assessing the level of destruction. However, he did note that one affected developer had filed a lawsuit against the government, seeking compensation of over N10 billion.

Ganduje reiterated that the demolition exercise was aimed at fulfilling his campaign promise to "restore" the urban development master plan of the city. He denied any personal vendetta against the previous administration led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and hinted that more demolitions would follow in the future.
